Who we are

We are Cody Jurbala and Melissa Ogilvie, the owners and operators of Speedwell Farm & Gardens. We started Speedwell in 2017 by converting leased back yards in Boulder, Colorado into micro-farm plots. Due to the difficulties of land access for young farmers, leasing back yard space was the only to way begin farming without immense monetary input in their initial years. Since then, we have grown our business to a 2 acre farm located at the Treehouse Farm Collective just north of Boulder. Together we manage every aspect of the farm. From planting and harvesting, to marketing and sales, we do it all. We are passionate about providing food to their community in ways that are less damaging to the environment than large-scale mainstream agriculture, and creating community resilience through connecting people to where their food comes from.

Treehouse Farm Collective

The Treehouse Farm Collective is home to multiple agricultural business; Speedwell Farm & Gardens, Artemis Flower Farm, Ver de Terre Vermicompost and The Tool Library. Established in 2021 in an effort to acquire shared land for their individual businesses, this collective farming model allows members access to land that would be inaccessible on their own. Members manage their individual businesses separately, while larger tasks of land stewardship are done together. The collective not only shares land, but also resources, experience, networks, and friendship. The Treehouse Farm Collective encourages community connection and support, in what can be a difficult and isolating profession. We know that the land is not ours alone, but also belongs to indigenous peoples, wild animals, soil allies, and the ecosystem as a whole. We treat it as a sacred thing we are borrowing for a brief moment.
